{"id":9369,"date":"2016-11-09T12:00:29","date_gmt":"2016-11-09T17:00:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvreal\/former-optomen-exec-joins-bbc-studios-factual-unit\/"},"modified":"2016-11-09T12:04:41","modified_gmt":"2016-11-09T17:04:41","slug":"former-optomen-exec-joins-bbc-studios-factual-unit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvreal\/former-optomen-exec-joins-bbc-studios-factual-unit\/","title":{"rendered":"Former Optomen Exec Joins BBC Studios Factual Unit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>LONDON: BBC Studios has appointed Jon Swain, who previously worked for Optomen Television, as head of its new\u00a0Popular Factual production division.<\/p>\n<p>In his new role, Swain will oversee the tentatively titled Popular Factual unit, which creates new and returning popular factual, lifestyle series and features across Bristol, Wales and Northern Ireland, including the newly revamped <em>Crimewatch<\/em> and <em>Countryfile<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout his career, Swain has developed and executive produced across a variety of factual-entertainment genres, including documentaries, features, lifestyle, food and live events. Among his credits are BBC Two&#8217;s <em>Employable Me<\/em> and Channel 4&#8217;s <em>The F Word<\/em>. Swain previously was director of development and head of formats at Optomen Television. He has also served as a development consultant for Optomen in the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>Lisa Opie, the head of BBC Studios Factual, commented: \u201cI\u2019m delighted that Jon is joining BBC Studios to establish our new Popular Factual unit. Jon is a highly creative and versatile program-maker with an incredible track record and vast experience in factual entertainment. I look forward to working with him to enhance our existing portfolio and develop new content in this area.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Swain added: \u201cI\u2019m thrilled to be launching the Popular Factual unit. It\u2019s home to some wonderful programs and great program-makers.
