{"id":9094,"date":"2016-08-31T10:44:07","date_gmt":"2016-08-31T14:44:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvreal\/viceland-ventures-into-late-night\/"},"modified":"2016-08-31T12:01:52","modified_gmt":"2016-08-31T16:01:52","slug":"viceland-ventures-into-late-night","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvreal\/viceland-ventures-into-late-night\/","title":{"rendered":"VICELAND Ventures into Late Night"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BROOKLYN: In addition to renewing a number of its series, VICELAND has unveiled that it&#8217;s making a foray into the daily late-night talk show arena with <em>Desus &amp; Mero<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><em>Desus &amp; Mero<\/em> comes to the network, which is at its six-month mark, from the popular podcast <em>The Bodega Boys<\/em> and web show <em>Desus vs. Mero<\/em>. The new show promises to be a fresh take on the day&#8217;s events, the culture at large and day-to-day life.<\/p>\n<p>VICELAND has also slated a new series with Tyler, the Creator, produced by Whalerock Industries and based on a show from Tyler&#8217;s Golf Media App. Additionally, two-time Sundance Grand Jury Prize-winning filmmaker Ondi Timoner of Interloper Films brings <em>Jungletown<\/em> to VICELAND.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to its new series, VICELAND is bringing back a number of its inaugural programs for second seasons. This includes <em>Huang&#8217;s World<\/em> with chef, restaurateur and writer Eddie Huang, and <em>States of Undress<\/em> with writer and model Hailey Gates.<\/p>\n<p>VICELAND Co-President Eddy Moretti said: &#8220;Just six months in and VICELAND is right on track. We gave birth to a completely new brand\u2014a unique voice with 100 percent VICE-produced content, that is attracting a young, smart, affluent audience. And today, more people are watching VICE-produced content on every possible screen than ever before. That&#8217;s insane, and insanely wonderful. Plus, we got two Emmy nominations out of the gate. It&#8217;s a sign that in just these first six months, VICELAND is already a cultural player on the televisual dial. We couldn&#8217;t be more proud.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>VICELAND&#8217;s president of programming, Nick Weidenfeld, added: &#8220;I&#8217;m so proud of what we have accomplished in just a few months since launching but there is much more work to be done. Our job is to give a platform to as many diverse and powerful voices as we can. No other network creates all its own content and brings together such disparate but important people. As we expand the talent pool, we&#8217;ll need to grow as a network, experimenting with genre and formats.
