MIAMI: Telemundo is premiering the documentary Cosecha de Miseria<\/em>, which exposes exploitative child labor practices on coffee plantations in the Mexican state of Chiapas.<\/p>\n

The documentary will air on Saturday, July 16, at 9 p.m. on Telemundo. Cosecha de Miseria<\/em> will also be available the same day on NoticiasTelemundo.com and the Telemundo News app and YouTube channel, as well as on The Weather Channel\u2019s website.<\/p>\n

A co-production of Noticias Telemundo and The Weather Channel, Cosecha de Miseria<\/em> is the result of nine months of research documenting the tasks performed by migrant children working in coffee production. It also examines the role played by regulatory agencies, intermediaries and transnational companies in perpetuating the exploitation of child laborers.<\/p>\n

The Weather Channel and Noticias Telemundo investigative teams visited plantations in Chiapas to uncover the working conditions and explore the circumstances that make this exploitation possible. The documentary features the testimony of young workers and their parents, as well as interviews with coffee farmers, merchants, labor activists and agencies charged with protecting children’s rights.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
