PBS and ITVS have partnered to launch the PBS Documentaries YouTube channel.<\/p>\n
\u201cPBS remains one of the most trusted institutions in America, and documentaries are a cornerstone of its commitment to civic engagement,” said Carrie Lozano, president and CEO of ITVS. \u201cThrough this partnership, we\u2019re thrilled to expand our shared public-service mission into digital spaces to reach new audiences.\u201d<\/p>\n
The channel will debut an expansive, diverse collection of documentaries across all forms of nonfiction storytelling. A core mission of the partnership for PBS Documentaries is to amplify storytelling from PBS stations, production partners and independent filmmakers nationwide, spotlighting local communities with national resonance.<\/p>\n
The channel launched with the debut of the Independent Lens feature, The Inquisitor.<\/p>\n
PBS Documentaries will release Our New World<\/em> on April 1, The Tallest Dwarf<\/em> on April 6 and Backside: The Unseen Hands of Horse Racing <\/em>on April 13.<\/p>\n In May, Life on Earth: Attenborough’s Greatest Adventure<\/em> releases on the 6th and Natchez<\/em> on the 11th.<\/p>\n Other titles coming to PBS Documentaries this spring include documentary shorts Chasing Time <\/em>and Songs of Black Folk <\/em>and the PBS Digital Studios series Ritual.<\/em><\/p>\n “PBS and our member stations are America’s home for documentary storytelling,” said PBS president and CEO Paula Kerger. “This channel gives us the opportunity to meet new audiences where they already are and bring them into a deeper relationship with the extraordinary work our stations and partners produce.
