They shocked mainstream audiences with their frank discussions covering everything from sex to police violence and guest appearances from radical figures such as Black Panther Bobby Seale.<\/p>\n<p>Other titles in the package include <em>JFK: 24 Hours That Changed the World<\/em> and <em>Moscow\u2019s Dirty Gold Rush<\/em>, as well as <em>Category: Woman<\/em>. The latter, directed by former Olympian Phyllis Ellis, delves into the highly contentious issue of sex verification in sports, focusing on four female athletes from the global south who have endured invasive medical scrutiny. It highlights the intersection of racism, sexism and the policing of women\u2019s bodies in athletics.<\/p>\n<p>Additional documentaries coming to NHK\u2019s SVOD service are <em>Kaepernick &amp; America<\/em>, exploring the former NFL player-turned-activist, his symbolic protest and its lasting impact; <em>A Crack in the Mountain<\/em>, documenting a pivotal moment in Vietnam\u2019s environmental activism history; and <em>Cyborg Society<\/em>, led by geopolitical adviser Nina Schick, author of <em>Deep Fakes<\/em>, who warns that our sudden interaction with AI has the power to permanently alter our relationship to identity, truth and reality.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are very pleased to be building on our relationship with NHK with this package for their SVOD service,\u201d said David Hooper, managing director of Espresso. \u201cThis provides further choice of programming in the Asian market, which we hope to be able to supply more titles for in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Japan\u2019s NHK has secured a 16-title documentary package deal for its SVOD service from Espresso Media International.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1412,"featured_media":22986,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"pmpro_default_level":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[69],"tags":[188,6247,851],"class_list":["post-22985","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","","category-top-stories","tag-david-hooper","tag-espresso-media-international","tag-nhk","pmpro-has-access"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v21.7 -
