Chronicling the history and influence of funk music, PBS Distribution’s We Want The Funk!<\/em> features legendary artists and rare footage.<\/p>\n

A co-production of Firelight Films and the Independent Television Service (ITVS) for PBS, the film hails from Emmy-winning documentarian Stanley Nelson and Grammy Award-nominated producer Nicole London.<\/p>\n

We Want The Funk!<\/em> is a syncopated voyage through the history of funk music, spanning from African, soul and early jazz roots to its rise into the public consciousness. Featuring James Brown\u2019s dynamism, the extraterrestrial funk of George Clinton\u2019s Parliament Funkadelic, transformed girl group Labelle and Fela Kuti\u2019s Afrobeat, the story also traces funk\u2019s influences on both new wave and hip-hop.
