The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), PBS, ITV Studios, Screen Australia and Screen NSW are working together on the new three-part natural history series Ages of Ice<\/em>.<\/p>\n

From Emmy Award-winning Northern Pictures, Ages of Ice<\/em> follows the scientists pushing the boundaries of exploration and human endeavor in Earth\u2019s coldest corners to understand the changes of ice and what this means for our planet\u2019s future.<\/p>\n

The project is co-commissioned by the ABC and PBS and produced by Northern Pictures with major production investment from Screen Australia in association with Screen NSW. Post, digital and visual effects supported by Screen NSW. Ages of Ice is produced in association with and distributed internationally by ITV Studios. It will broadcast in Australia on ABC TV and ABC iview in 2026.<\/p>\n

ABC’s head of documentary and specialist, Susie Jones, said, \u201cWe\u2019re excited to partner with Northern Pictures and PBS on this landmark new series. The ABC is committed to commissioning innovative natural history content, and we can\u2019t wait to share Ages of Ice<\/em> with Australian audiences\u201d.<\/p>\n

These awe-inspiring and critical stories of exploration showcase the remarkable work being done by scientists to unlock the mysteries of our planet\u2019s coldest regions.\u201d<\/p>\n

Northern Pictures’s head of factual, Karina Holden, said, \u201cThis is a series unlike any other. We are venturing into some of the most formidable and breathtaking landscapes on Earth, where science becomes an act of sheer endurance. Filming in these remote extremes has been an extraordinary challenge, both physically and logistically, but the urgency of the story demands it. Through the series, we hope to reveal the profound connection between the polar regions and the future of our planet\u201d.<\/p>\n

Screen Australia’s head of documentary, Richard Huddleston, said, \u201cAges of Ice<\/em> is a genre-defining, boundary-pushing series for our time.
