Wildfires"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Channel 4 News and Current Affairs has commissioned ITN Productions to make a fast-turnaround documentary looking at the wildfires that have destroyed large parts of Los Angeles and the surrounding area.<\/p>\n<p>The one-hour doc, <em>Inferno: LA on Fire<\/em>, will bring together on-the-ground reporting, dramatic images and a wealth of user-generated content to show the full scale of this unprecedented disaster. The program examines how the fires started, what caused them and the political fallout.<\/p>\n<p>Commissioning editor is Adam Vandermark, production manager is Nickie Hyde, and executive producer is Caroline Short.<\/p>\n<p>Louisa Compton, head of news, current affairs, specialist factual and sport at Channel 4, said: \u201cThe speed and ferocity of these wildfires show us that we can\u2019t waste any time in trying to understand what is happening. This film will give a panoramic picture of the devastation currently unfolding while also putting into perspective the science and politics that underline our response to increasingly extreme weather.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ian Rumsey, managing director of content at ITN, said: \u201cThe scenes of devastating destruction engulfing Los Angeles are almost unbelievable; they\u2019re both shocking and heartbreaking.
