It was five years in the making, with over 180 expeditions filmed.<\/p>\n<p>Each episode features a different iconic location across the Americas: the Atlantic Coast, Mexico, the Wild West, the Amazon, the Frozen North, the Gulf Coast, the Andes, the Caribbean, the West Coast and Patagonia.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Americas<\/em> is executive produced by Emmy- and BAFTA Award-winning wildlife producer Mike Gunton (<em>Planet Earth II<\/em>, <em>Planet Earth III<\/em>, <em>Dynasties<\/em>) for BBC Studios Natural History Unit.<\/p>\n<p>Music is by Oscar winner Hans Zimmer.<\/p>\n<p>NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution holds distribution rights and scored the BBC deal.<\/p>\n<p>Jo Lapping, head of BBC factual acquisition, said: \u201cThe BBC is delighted to bring NBC\u2019s remarkable nature epic <em>The Americas<\/em> to BBC One and iPlayer.
