{"id":21642,"date":"2024-06-25T09:00:47","date_gmt":"2024-06-25T13:00:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvreal\/worldscreen.com\/"},"modified":"2024-06-25T09:24:00","modified_gmt":"2024-06-25T13:24:00","slug":"nat-geo-greenlights-jaws-50th-anniversary-doc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvreal\/nat-geo-greenlights-jaws-50th-anniversary-doc\/","title":{"rendered":"Nat Geo Sets Jaws 50th Anniversary Doc"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>National Geographic has commissioned <em>Jaws @ 50<\/em> (w.t.) from Steven Spielberg\u2019s Amblin Documentaries, Nedland Media and ocean conservation and marine policy advocate Wendy Benchley.<\/p>\n<p>On the heels of the 50th anniversary of Peter Benchley\u2019s best-selling novel, the feature documentary will include footage and photography from the Benchley and Spielberg archives, as well as new interviews from the worlds of film, literature, pop culture and ocean conservation.<\/p>\n<p>It will provide behind-the-scenes stories of the book\u2019s writing and the infamous tumultuous production of the film, including being over budget, behind schedule, malfunctioning sharks, weather issues and sea sickness.<\/p>\n<p><em>Jaws @ 50<\/em> will also explore the world and impacts of sharks today through testimonials from people who have dedicated their lives to studying and safeguarding sharks and the seas.<\/p>\n<p>Nedland Media\u2019s Laurent Bouzereau is directing the documentary. Bouzereau is also executive producing, alongside Nedland Media\u2019s Markus Keith; Amblin\u2019s Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey; Wendy Benchley; branding and communications specialist Laura A. Bowling; and National Geographic\u2019s Ted Duvall.<\/p>\n<p>The documentary is set to debut in summer 2025 on National Geographic, as well as on Disney+ and Hulu, as part of Sharkfest.
