{"id":21595,"date":"2024-06-19T10:31:40","date_gmt":"2024-06-19T14:31:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvreal\/bbc-orders-two-simon-reeve-series\/"},"modified":"2024-06-19T10:31:42","modified_gmt":"2024-06-19T14:31:42","slug":"bbc-orders-two-simon-reeve-series","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvreal\/bbc-orders-two-simon-reeve-series\/","title":{"rendered":"BBC Orders Two Simon Reeve Series"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BBC has commissioned more <em>Wilderness with Simon Reeve<\/em> and the brand-new <em>Scandinavia with Simon Reeve<\/em> (w.t.) for broadcast on BBC Two and iPlayer.<\/p>\n<p>Following <em>Wilderness with Simon Reeve<\/em>&#8216;s initial success, BBC Factual has greenlit a second season of four episodes.<em> Scandinavia with Simon Reeve<\/em>, which will explore the secrets and beauty of the region, is set to air in spring 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Tom Coveney, head of commissioning for science at BBC, said: \u201cI can\u2019t wait to see more of Simon\u2019s intrepid adventures to some of our planet\u2019s most precious wildernesses. His unique ability to connect with people all over the world, and to uncover what\u2019s really going on in its most remote corners, will no doubt deliver another joyful and thought-provoking series.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Joanna Carr, news controller for long-form commissioning at BBC, commented: \u201cSimon is incredibly skillful at uncovering a different side to the places he visits and showing us people and cultures in a fresh light. I am excited to see what his adventures in this spectacular and fascinating region will reveal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Reeve stated: &#8220;I\u2019m delighted to be making these series, and I\u2019m really confident both will deliver surprises and a good few thrills.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Scandinavia is vast, rugged and one of the most beautiful regions on the planet. It\u2019s much more than just flat-pack furniture, reliable cars and candles. I know we\u2019ll find situations, people, landscapes and facts that make my jaw drop.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Reeve added, &#8220;I\u2019m chuffed to bits and of course also more than a little daunted by the chance to trek and travel across more Wilderness areas around the planet. Filming the first series was draining and perilous, and I\u2019m sure there&#8217;ll be plenty of challenges in the second series.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Traveling to wilderness areas is one of the great honors of my life, and I know for certain the next adventures will offer immense joy, wonder and encounters with wildlife and other people that I\u2019ll remember forever.
