{"id":21573,"date":"2024-06-17T10:56:33","date_gmt":"2024-06-17T14:56:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvreal\/submarine-deluxe-decal-releasing-acquire-war-game\/"},"modified":"2024-06-17T10:56:36","modified_gmt":"2024-06-17T14:56:36","slug":"submarine-deluxe-decal-releasing-acquire-war-game","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvreal\/submarine-deluxe-decal-releasing-acquire-war-game\/","title":{"rendered":"Submarine Deluxe &#038; Decal Releasing Acquire War Game"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Submarine Deluxe and Decal Releasing have acquired <em>War Game<\/em>, produced by Boat Rocker and Anonymous Content, for theatrical and VOD releases.<\/p>\n<p>The film, written and directed by Jesse Moss (<em>Boys State<\/em>, <em>The Overnighters<\/em>) and Tony Gerber (<em>Jane<\/em>,<em> Full Battle Rattle<\/em>), follows a bipartisan group of U.S. defense, intelligence and elected policymakers spanning five presidential administrations as they participate in an unscripted role-play exercise in which they confront a political coup backed by rogue members of the U.S. military in the wake of a contested 2024 election.<\/p>\n<p>The tabletop exercise that is the subject of <em>War Game<\/em> was organized by Vet Voice Foundation, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization. Participants include former Governor Steve Bullock of Montana, former U.S. Senators Doug Jones of Alabama and Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota, retired Lt. General Jeffrey Buchanan of the U.S. Army, former NATO Supreme Allied Commander Wesley Clark and Lt. Colonel Alexander Vindman.<\/p>\n<p><em>War Game<\/em> premiered in January at the Sundance Film Festival. After a festival run, Submarine Deluxe will release the film in theaters on August 2, followed by a VOD release this fall with Decal Releasing. Boat Rocker is distributing the film internationally.<\/p>\n<p><em>War Game<\/em> is executive produced by Boat Rocker, Matador Content, Anonymous Content, Warren Littlefield (<em>The Handmaid\u2019s Tale<\/em>, <em>Fargo<\/em>, <em>The Old Man<\/em>), Jonathan E. Steinberg (<em>Black Sails<\/em>, <em>The Old Man<\/em>,<em> Percy Jackson and the Olympians<\/em>) and Dan Shotz (<em>Black Sails<\/em>, <em>The Old Man<\/em>, <em>Percy Jackson and the Olympians<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re thrilled to partner with Submarine Deluxe and Decal to bring<em> War Game<\/em> to audiences this fall,\u201d Moss and Gerber said. \u201cThe film is an invitation to the White House Situation Room to experience a real-time look at a dystopian but entirely plausible political future, and a scary, gripping but also hopeful look at presidential decision-making in crisis.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Submarine Deluxe\u2019s Dan Braun added, \u201cWe are thrilled to be working with directors Jesse Moss and Tony Gerber, along with producers and partners Boat Rocker, Matador Content, Anonymous Content and Vet Voice Foundation, on their Sundance docuthriller <em>War Game<\/em>.
