{"id":21277,"date":"2024-04-18T09:00:32","date_gmt":"2024-04-18T13:00:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvreal\/worldscreen.com\/"},"modified":"2024-04-18T17:03:40","modified_gmt":"2024-04-18T21:03:40","slug":"fremantle-taking-music-doc-rebel-country-global","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvreal\/fremantle-taking-music-doc-rebel-country-global\/","title":{"rendered":"Fremantle Taking Music Doc Rebel Country Global"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fremantle is bringing to the international market the feature-length country music documentary <em>Rebel Country<\/em>, in partnership with BMG and WhyNow Studios.<\/p>\n<p>Featuring artists such as Jelly Roll, Blanco Brown, Lainey Wilson, BRELAND and more, the film explores the current tensions of race, class, poverty, gender, sexuality, geography and creativity versus commerce that are prevalent in the U.S. today, while acknowledging their connection to Nashville\u2019s rebellious roots.<\/p>\n<p><em>Rebel Country<\/em> is directed by Francis Whately (<em>Five Years<\/em>, <em>Dolly Parton: Here I Am<\/em>) and executive producers by BMG and WhyNow Studios\u2019 Gabriel Jagger and Janet Lee.<\/p>\n<p>The documentary is slated to have its world premiere in New York City at the upcoming 2024 Tribeca Film Festival in the Spotlight+ category and will include a special appearance from BRELAND.<\/p>\n<p>Fremantle is handling worldwide sales.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am excited to have <em>Rebel Country<\/em> premiere in this current moment that the country music genre is experiencing,\u201d Whately said. \u201cThe musicians, noted music journalists and historians included in the film help give a broad picture of the genre and its influences over the years and a glimpse into the future.
