PBS has acquired the U.S. broadcast rights for Lion Television\u2019s upcoming factual series Pompeii: The New Dig<\/em> from All3Media International.<\/p>\n The new three-part series follows the biggest excavation of Pompeii in a generation, revealing buried secrets and unsolved mysteries that have been hidden beneath volcanic ash. During the dig, archaeologists\u2019 discoveries include a fresco dating back 2,000 years that looks like a pizza.<\/p>\n The series also reveals what happened to named survivors and traces their modern-day descendants living in Italy.<\/p>\n Pompeii: The New Dig<\/em> is slated to premiere on BBC Two in the U.K. on April 15. On PBS in the U.S., it will debut on May 15, with additional episodes airing on May 22 and 29.<\/p>\n The series is co-produced with ARTE France, in association with All3Media International.
