National Geographic Content has expanded its National Geographic Media Scholarship program to include six Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), which will each receive $10,000 scholarships.<\/p>\n

The scholarships will be awarded to students interested in exploring careers in factual storytelling and filmmaking. In addition to the financial awards, they will have the opportunity to participate in a two-week immersion program at the National Geographic headquarters and receive an executive mentor for at least six months.<\/p>\n

The participating HBCUs are Texas Southern University, Grambling State University, Spelman College, Howard University, Alcorn State University and Virginia State University. Students of these universities who are interested can apply through November 21.<\/p>\n

Greenfield continued, \u201cAt National Geographic, we are dedicated to being inclusive and telling inclusive stories that appeal to multicultural and multigenerational audiences. We understand that it requires an industry with diverse storytellers. We hope that the scholarship and mentor experience will help us strengthen our talent pool at National Geographic and within The Walt Disney Company.
