{"id":18374,"date":"2022-06-29T10:24:44","date_gmt":"2022-06-29T14:24:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev2.worldscreen.com\/tvreal\/supreme-court-docuseries-confirmed-coming-showtime\/"},"modified":"2022-06-29T12:06:25","modified_gmt":"2022-06-29T16:06:25","slug":"supreme-court-docuseries-confirmed-coming-to-showtime","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvreal\/supreme-court-docuseries-confirmed-coming-to-showtime\/","title":{"rendered":"Supreme Court Docuseries Coming to Showtime"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Showtime Documentary Films is set to launch <em>Confirmed<\/em> (w.t.), a new four-part documentary series that delves into the modern history of the U.S. Supreme Court.<\/p>\n<p>From Emmy-nominated director Dawn Porter (<em>The Way I See It<\/em>, <em>John Lewis: Good Trouble<\/em>), it will also explore the people, decisions and confirmation battles that have shaped the U.S. Produced by Trilogy Films and Sony Pictures Television, the docuseries will air in early 2023.<\/p>\n<p><em>Confirmed<\/em> will show the role that the nine unelected justices of the Supreme Court have in shaping U.S. democracy and the daily lives of the country\u2019s inhabitants.<\/p>\n<p>Vinnie Malhotra, executive VP of nonfiction programming at Showtime Networks, said:\u00a0\u201cYou can easily argue that more than any election or institution, the future of the U.S. will be dictated by the actions of the Supreme Court. <em>Confirmed<\/em> will bring indispensable context to how we got to this moment in time, while also breaking down the maelstrom of activity that is altering the course of the nation this very year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Porter said: \u201cWe\u2019ve been working on this series for months now, but I\u2019ve recently begun to describe it as a thriller. We literally are trying to keep up with a seemingly never-ending story of change. Showtime had the presence of mind to commission this project well before we knew what monumental shifts would occur during production. We hope everyone will tune in to learn more about one of the most powerful influences in America. The Supreme Court determines our fundamental rights and privileges.
