It is narrated by award-winning British actor Chiwetel Ejiofor (<em>12 Years a Slave<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>The documentary is set to be available in the U.S. on The Roku Channel and on Pluto TV on April 22.<\/p>\n<p>Tencent carried <em>Day Zero<\/em> in China after it was created by the company\u2019s chief exploration officer, David Wallterstein. BBC Africa and Nat Geo (Latin America), Rai in Italy and Japan\u2019s NHK are among a number of international broadcasters to acquire the international film.<\/p>\n<p>Filmed over a three-year period, <em>Day Zero<\/em> journeys across the planet seeking those on the frontline fighting to protect water from running out and features exclusive interviews from some of the world\u2019s top scientists and experts.<\/p>\n<p>Virginia Quinn (<em>Africa\u2019s Great Civilizations<\/em>) co-directed <em>Day Zero<\/em> with Sim, who also wrote Ejiofor\u2019s script. Executive producers are Wallerstein and Kari Lia. Will Pugh was director of photography and Marcy Cox was the producer for Keo Films.<\/p>\n<p>Lisa Honig, senior executive VP of international distribution at Fremantle, said: \u201cIt is a great privilege and responsibility to awaken and inspire audiences to change how they think about some of the most urgent crises facing our planet. <em>Day Zero<\/em> is a powerful and beautifully produced film that serves as a wake-up call for us all. We are proud to be taking this documentary to the U.S. on such popular and recognized platforms which can take it to the widest audiences to further highlight one of the most important climate issues.
