{"id":17725,"date":"2022-03-04T08:46:17","date_gmt":"2022-03-04T13:46:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev2.worldscreen.com\/tvreal\/sony-pictures-television-buys-industrial-media\/"},"modified":"2022-03-04T12:13:52","modified_gmt":"2022-03-04T17:13:52","slug":"sony-pictures-television-buys-industrial-media","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvreal\/sony-pictures-television-buys-industrial-media\/","title":{"rendered":"Sony Pictures Television Buys Industrial Media"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sony Pictures Television (SPT) has signed an agreement to acquire Industrial Media, expanding its footprint and capabilities\u00a0in nonfiction and documentary television production.<\/p>\n<p>Industrial Media&#8217;s CEO and founder and CEO of IPC, Eli Holzman, will join Sony Pictures Television as president of nonfiction entertainment upon closing.\u00a0Holzman\u2019s longtime producing partner, Aaron Saidman, Industrial Media&#8217;s president and co-founder and president of IPC, will join the company as co-president of nonfiction entertainment, reporting to Holzman. In these roles,\u00a0Holzman and Saidman will oversee day-to-day operations of SPT nonfiction.<\/p>\n<p>Upon closing of the Industrial Media transaction, Sony Pictures will acquire a majority controlling interest in the company based on a purchase price that values the company at $350 million.<\/p>\n<p>Industrial Media\u2019s portfolio of producers includes\u00a019 Entertainment, B17 Entertainment, House of NonFiction, Sharp Entertainment, The Intellectual Property Corporation (IPC), This Machine Filmworks, This Radicle Act and Trilogy Films. Its companies produce more than 100 programs for audiences worldwide. Titles include the\u00a0<em>90 Day Fianc\u00e9<\/em>\u00a0franchise\u00a0for\u00a0TLC,\u00a0<em>Indian Matchmaking\u00a0<\/em>for Netflix, <em>We\u2019re Here<\/em>\u00a0for HBO,\u00a0<em>The Curse of Von Dutch<\/em>,\u00a0<em>The D\u2019Amelio Show\u00a0<\/em>for Hulu,\u00a0<em>Secrets of Playboy\u00a0<\/em>for A&amp;E,\u00a0<em>Selena+Chef\u00a0<\/em>and<em>\u00a0Craftopia<\/em>\u00a0for HBO Max,\u00a0<em>So You Think You Can Dance<\/em>\u00a0for FOX and\u00a0<em>American Idol<\/em>\u00a0for ABC.<\/p>\n<p>Ravi Ahuja, chairman of global television studios and SPE corporate development, to whom\u00a0Holzman will report,\u00a0said:\u00a0\u201cAt SPT, our focus is on leadership and quality in growing areas of television, and nonfiction content makes up a significant share of TV viewing.\u00a0Acquiring Industrial Media gives us scale and expertise that nicely complements our current TV production businesses. And now we have partnered with a leading independent supplier to the global film and television marketplace. Our ambition in working with Tony, Ravi and the Sony Pictures Television team is to supercharge our growth, amplify our ability to attract the very best talent both in front of and behind the camera and to continue pushing the boundaries of the medium.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, Sony Pictures Television has formed a new game-show production division, to be led by Suzanne Prete, who currently oversees<em> Jeopardy!<\/em> and <em>Wheel of Fortune<\/em>. In her new role as executive VP of the newly formed division, she will continue to manage both <em>Jeopardy!<\/em> and <em>Wheel of Fortune<\/em> and add oversight for other game shows produced by the studio.<\/p>\n<p>Ahuja added:\u00a0\u201cSuzanne has done a fantastic job at\u00a0<em>Wheel of Fortune<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Jeopardy!<\/em>,\u00a0and I have every confidence in her taking on this expanded role with game shows at the studio.
