WE tv has greenlit the unscripted investigative series Hip Hop Homicides<\/em>, with Curtis \u201c50 Cent\u201d Jackson executive producing.<\/p>\n

Hosted by Van Lathan, the series will look into the number of unsolved murders in the hip-hop community in an attempt to uncover what really happened. Lionsgate Television, Jackson’s G-Unit Film & Television and Mona Scott-Young’s Monami Productions will produce.<\/p>\n

Monami Productions will handle physical production, while Lionsgate will handle international distribution rights.\u00a0Executive producers are Jackson for G-Unit Film & Television; Scott-Young, Stephanie R. Gayle and Michael Lang for Monami Productions; Lauren Gellert and Kari McFarland for WE tv; and Vanessa Satten and Anthony Wilson.<\/p>\n

The first season of Hip Hop Homicides<\/em> is slated to premiere on WE tv later this year.<\/p>\n

\u201c50 and I created this show in response to the disturbing number of murders in hip-hop,\u201d said Scott-Young. \u201cWith this boots-on-the-ground investigative series, we will look to closely examine and explore leads surrounding these cases with the hope of finally providing loved ones with answers.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cG-Unit Film and Television has thrived by telling real stories,\u201d said Jackson. \u201cAs I continue to grow my current slate, premium non-scripted programming will be a major focus. Hip-hop loves things that are damaged. This series will shed light on the artists that didn\u2019t make it through the struggle.\u201d<\/p>\n

Craig Piligian, president of Lionsgate Nonfiction Television and chair and CEO of Pilgrim Media Group, added, \u201cWe\u2019re proud to collaborate with Curtis again on a powerful project in the unscripted world alongside our incredible producing partner Mona. Hip Hop Homicides<\/em> is an eye-opening reality series that will captivate and move audiences, and we\u2019re excited we found the right partners in WE tv.\u201d<\/p>\n
