Entertainment One (eOne) has partnered with trial attorney L. Chris Stewart on Burden of Justice<\/em>, a new docuseries about his pursuit of justice for George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Rayshard Brooks and other high-profile police brutality cases.<\/p>\n

Burden of Justice<\/em> is a civil rights\/true-crime series that takes viewers inside Stewart\u2019s biggest cases of wrongful death at the hands of law enforcement. Blending past- and present-tense storytelling, the series details Stewart\u2019s efforts to discover the truth and bring forth justice. Each episode uses archival, never-before-seen footage, interviews with families and friends of victims, witnesses, members of Stewart\u2019s team and Stewart\u2019s own words to showcase these politically-charged cases.<\/p>\n

The docuseries will take viewers from the scene of the crime to clandestine meetings to procure evidence, from confrontations at City Hall to the front lines of protests and conflicts with threatening trolls. Burden of Justice<\/em> is a no-holds-barred examination of what goes unseen in the fight for civil rights, including the physical dangers and emotional burden placed on Stewart himself. Stewart serves as an executive producer on the project.<\/p>\n

In addition to the aforementioned, Stewart has represented the family of Walter Scott, who was shot in the back on video by a police officer. The Walter Scott case settled for $6.5 million dollars, the highest in South Carolina\u2019s history, and the officer involved received a 20-year prison sentence. Stewart also represented Alton Sterling, who was held down and killed on video by police in Baton Rouge. Other high profile cases include Gregory Towns of Georgia, Chase Sherman of Florida and the still-pending case of Deaundre Phillips.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
