{"id":14415,"date":"2020-04-15T11:52:34","date_gmt":"2020-04-15T15:52:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev2.worldscreen.com\/tvreal\/two-rivers-options-ae-networks-top-dog\/"},"modified":"2020-04-15T11:57:41","modified_gmt":"2020-04-15T15:57:41","slug":"two-rivers-options-ae-networks-top-dog","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvreal\/two-rivers-options-ae-networks-top-dog\/","title":{"rendered":"Two Rivers Options A+E Networks\u2019 Top Dog"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two Rivers Media has optioned the A+E Networks canine competition series <em>Top Dog<\/em> for both the U.K. and Irish markets.<\/p>\n<p>Created by MGM\u2019s Big Fish Entertainment and broadcast as <em>America\u2019s Top Dog<\/em> on A+E Networks\u2019 A&amp;E channel in the U.S., the series sees teams of dogs and their owners compete on a canine obstacle course. The teams are tested on their speed, agility and teamwork by completing a series of expert tasks on the massive course. Each week\u2019s winning team receives prize money and an additional sum to donate to the animal charity of their choice. In the final week of competition, top competitors return to the finale course to battle for the \u201cTop Dog\u201d title and an additional cash prize.<\/p>\n<p>Two Rivers\u2019 option of <em>Top Dog<\/em> was supported by the National Lottery through Screen Scotland\u2019s Broadcast Content Fund.<\/p>\n<p>Mirella Breda, head of entertainment at Two Rivers, said: \u201cAs soon as we saw <em>America\u2019s Top Dog<\/em>, we knew that this was a fresh and exciting way to celebrate the unique bond between dogs and their owners. I can see why it\u2019s been such a huge hit in the States\u2014it\u2019s got that magic combination of high octane challenges and big emotional stories. It\u2019s exactly the kind of television Two Rivers is about and we can\u2019t wait to bring this format to audiences in the U.K. and Ireland.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Robyn Hurd, VP of content sales for EMEA at A+E Networks International, said: &#8220;We are so excited to be working with the wonderful team at Two Rivers and excited to bring <em>Top Dog<\/em> to screens in the U.K. and Ireland. <em>Top Dog<\/em> celebrates the special relationship between an owner and their dog and demonstrates the skill and intelligence of our favorite pets making this a sure-fire hit for a mainstream audience. We are thrilled about <em>Top Dog<\/em>\u2014a unique and joyful format that will work well here and globally. \u201d<\/p>\n<p>David Smith, director of Screen Scotland, added: \u201cCongratulations to the team at Two Rivers.
