{"id":13930,"date":"2020-01-16T11:08:03","date_gmt":"2020-01-16T16:08:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev2.worldscreen.com\/tvreal\/filmrise-acquires-dog-doc\/"},"modified":"2020-01-16T12:11:18","modified_gmt":"2020-01-16T17:11:18","slug":"filmrise-acquires-the-dog-doc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvreal\/filmrise-acquires-the-dog-doc\/","title":{"rendered":"FilmRise Acquires The Dog Doc"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>FilmRise has acquired the feature documentary <em>The Dog Doc<\/em>, about veterinarian Dr. Marty Goldstein and his clinic best known in the pet-health world for their groundbreaking approach to improving the quality of life for pets.<\/p>\n<p>Running a non-conventional practice in South Salem, New York, Goldstein and his staff use integrative and holistic approaches to treat even the most drastic of pet-health issues. <em>The Dog Doc<\/em> is award-winning filmmaker Cindy Meehl\u2019s (<em>Buck<\/em>) latest documentary. <em>The Dog Doc<\/em> will be released theatrically in select markets in March 2020 followed by a national theatrical and theatrical-on-demand campaign.<\/p>\n<p>The film follows Goldstein and his colleagues at the Smith Ridge Veterinary Center. They have created a mecca for holistic care, offering hope to scores of previously hopeless animals (and their owners). Combining conventional medical training with cutting edge alternative therapies, the center\u2019s deeply empathetic philosophy offers a vital example of how improving overall health rather than merely treating disease is transformative for all living things. As the staff interacts with animals, the stakes are high and it is often touch and go as viewers watch the owners, some who have traveled great distances, struggle with the reality of whether or not their pets will live to see another day.<\/p>\n<p>A veterinarian for more than 45 years, Goldstein has guest-starred on several national radio and television programs, including <em>The Oprah Winfrey Show<\/em>, <em>The Martha Stewart Show<\/em> and <em>Good Morning America<\/em>. He is the author of the best-selling book <em>The Nature of Animal Healing<\/em> and is currently working on a second.<\/p>\n<p>Danny Fisher, CEO of FilmRise, commented, \u201cThis documentary will no doubt have audiences realizing an alternate approach to pet healthcare.
