{"id":13533,"date":"2019-10-16T03:00:26","date_gmt":"2019-10-16T07:00:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev2.worldscreen.com\/tvreal\/tvformats\/"},"modified":"2019-10-16T10:13:33","modified_gmt":"2019-10-16T14:13:33","slug":"filmax-presents-mr-hand-solo-at-mipcom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvreal\/filmax-presents-mr-hand-solo-at-mipcom\/","title":{"rendered":"Filmax Presents Mr. Hand Solo at MIPCOM"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Filmax is showcasing at MIPCOM the documentary <em>Mr. Hand Solo<\/em>, based on the true story of David Aguilar, a teenager with Poland Syndrome whose passion for Legos led him to design and create his own prosthetic arm.<\/p>\n<p>The film, directed by H\u00e9ctor Romance and produced by Jos\u00e9 Pozo (<em>Solo<\/em>) and Ferran Aguilar, is currently in the post-production stage and will be ready at the beginning of next year. <em>Mr. Hand Solo<\/em> will be presented to international buyers for the first time at MIPCOM, where they will be able to see a promo.<\/p>\n<p>Aguilar, the film\u2019s protagonist, is a teenage boy who lives in Andorra. He was born with Poland Syndrome, a disorder that led to him having a deformed right arm. As a child, David would construct vehicles and toys with Legos, something that would eventually lead him to build his very own prosthesis.<\/p>\n<p>Aguilar was also able to install a battery that functions as a bicep, as well as a fishing line that allows him to maneuver his arm like an able-bodied person would. Apart from his passion for Lego, David is also an EDM DJ, who goes by the name \u201cHand Solo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe&#8217;re delighted to bring such an inspirational and passionate story like David&#8217;s to a market as important as MIPCOM. We believe this documentary will generate a lot of interest from audiences around the world and that we&#8217;ll make some great sales,\u201d said Iv\u00e1n D\u00edaz, head of international at Filmax.<\/p>\n<p>Aguilar added: \u201cI&#8217;m 100% sure that telling this story about how I overcame life&#8217;s obstacles will help many people around the world, whatever their relationship to disability may be. With this documentary, I want to encourage people to never give up and to keep fighting for their dreams.
