UKTV has greenlit the docudrama series Ski A&E<\/em>, which follows the emergency medical team at France\u2019s Val Thorens, one of the world\u2019s largest ski resorts.<\/p>\n

The 10×1-hour UKTV Original will air on the W channel in late 2019 and will give viewers behind-the-scenes access to the teams that carry out emergency rescues on the mountains, as well as the daily drama at the local hospitals. It is produced by North One Television.<\/p>\n

Senior commissioning editor for UKTV, Helen Nightingale, said: \u201cWe\u2019re excited to be working with North One Television on this ambitious new UKTV Original series. With cameras following every dramatic step, from the rescue on the slopes, the helicopter evacuations and transporting the patients to the surgeons in the medical centers, it really is extraordinary access.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe access secured to the medical emergency teams in Val Thorens is fantastic,\u201d said Adam Collings, channel director for W and Really. \u201cMedical series such as Inside the Ambulance<\/em> are big favorites with W\u2019s audience, so we can\u2019t wait to see what characters and stories arise in Ski A&E<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

North One\u2019s head of entertainment, John Quinn, added: \u201cAs well as the many medical stories, the whole behind-the-scenes operation in Val Thorens is fascinating. Many visitors take their skiing for granted but it takes a huge, well-oiled machine to ensure everything\u2019s running smoothly each day. We aim to capture a real sense of that vibrant, 24-hour resort\u2014in addition to the human dramas unfolding within it\u2014by following the ski patrols, medics and holidaymakers, along with other great local characters and some of the many British resort workers.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
