{"id":12199,"date":"2019-02-01T10:47:56","date_gmt":"2019-02-01T15:47:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev2.worldscreen.com\/tvreal\/french-partner-expedition-steve-backshall\/"},"modified":"2019-02-01T11:26:51","modified_gmt":"2019-02-01T16:26:51","slug":"french-partner-for-expedition-with-steve-backshall","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvreal\/french-partner-for-expedition-with-steve-backshall\/","title":{"rendered":"French Partner for Expedition with Steve Backshall"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>French public broadcaster France T\u00e9l\u00e9visions has acquired the ten-part adventure series <em>Expedition with Steve Backshall<\/em> in a presale deal with Fremantle.<\/p>\n<p>Made by True to Nature and commissioned by BBC and UKTV in association with Fremantle, <em>Expedition with Steve Backshall<\/em> is a prime-time adventure series filled with world firsts: the first descent of a white-water river in the Himalayas, trekking through unexplored jungle in South America and climbing mountains in the deserts of the Middle East.<\/p>\n<p>The first four hour-long episodes will premiere on BBC Two in 2019. UKTV\u2019s Dave will show the full 10&#215;1-hour series later in the year, exclusively premiering six new expeditions as well as showing its own versions of the four BBC episodes. Fremantle holds global distribution rights.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Expedition with Steve Backshall<\/em> represents the best in factual programming and we are pleased to have France T\u00e9l\u00e9visions as our first global partner for the series,\u201d said Al De Azpiazu, VP of sales and distribution for Western Europe, International, at Fremantle. \u201cSteve attempts a world first expedition in every episode, which in this era is very special.
