{"id":11928,"date":"2018-11-28T11:31:44","date_gmt":"2018-11-28T16:31:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvreal\/national-geographic-gets-global-rights-avenging-evil-doc\/"},"modified":"2018-11-28T11:31:44","modified_gmt":"2018-11-28T16:31:44","slug":"national-geographic-gets-global-rights-to-avenging-evil-doc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvreal\/national-geographic-gets-global-rights-to-avenging-evil-doc\/","title":{"rendered":"National Geographic Gets Global Rights to Avenging Evil Doc"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>National Geographic has taken the global rights (excluding the U.K. and Ireland) to the World War II feature documentary <em>Avenging Evil<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Caravan and Global Road Entertainment\u2019s <em>Avenging Evil<\/em> tells the story of a secret organization of Holocaust survivors known as the \u201cAvengers.\u201d This group of avengers, made up of both men and women and led by Vilnius Ghetto survivor Abba Kovner, attempted to carry out a revenge plot against the Germans in 1946. Testimony from members of the group\u2014including Auschwitz survivor Yehuda Maimon, Warsaw Ghetto Uprising survivor Simcha Rotem and Hasia Warshawski\u2014is featured in the documentary.<\/p>\n<p><em>Avenging Evil<\/em> was originally commissioned by Channel 4 with the title <em>Holocaust: The Revenge<\/em>. It premiered in the U.K. to mark Holocaust Day 2018 on January 27.<\/p>\n<p>Dinah Lord, managing director of Caravan and co-executive producer of the documentary, said: \u201c<em>Avenging Evil<\/em> tells an incredible story that very few people will know. What makes it such a gripping film is that the narrative comes from the first-hand perspective of the last survivors directly involved, coupled with the fact our extensive research unearthed remarkable new evidence about the plot that has never been heard before.
