These include Pel\u00e9, the only player to win three World Cups;\u00a0Ryan Giggs, the most decorated player in British history and current manager of the Wales national team;\u00a0Gary Lineker,\u00a0England\u2019s record holder for goals scored in World Cup finals; sports broadcaster Louis Van Gaal,\u00a0a former manager of Manchester United, Bayern Munich,\u00a0Ajax Amsterdam\u00a0and Holland;\u00a0Philipp Lahm, captain of Germany during the 2014 World Cup and current Bayern Munich player;\u00a0Claudio Ranieri,\u00a0former manager of Leicester City and current head coach of Nantes;\u00a0Roy Hodgson, current manager of Crystal Palace in the English Premier League; and\u00a0Michael Owen, a former striker for Manchester United and the England national team. Others featured include a number of players from the FIFA World Cup-winning teams of 1970, 1978, 1990, 1998 and 2014, including\u00a0Rivellino,\u00a0Mario Kempes,\u00a0Lothar Matthaus,\u00a0Paul Breitner,\u00a0Toto Schillaci,\u00a0Emanuel Petit,\u00a0Christian Karembeu,\u00a0Manuel\u00a0and\u00a0Philip Lahm.\u00a0David Villa will continue to represent<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><em>History of Football<\/em> as its global press spokesperson.<\/p>\n<p><em>History of Football: The Greatest Story Ever Played<\/em> will run on HISTORY in more than 160 territories outside of the U.S., including in Brazil, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Sweden and the U.K., as well as across Africa, Latin America and Southeast Asia. In Southeast Asia, the event will run for one week rather than two. Every major territory will present 40-plus hours of content. <em>History of Football: The Greatest Story Ever Played<\/em> will air 24\/7, for 14 days, from May 28 to June 10, and will present a selection of original, globally and locally focused premium series and documentaries, carefully curated films and short-form specials.<\/p>\n<p>The TV event will also take\u00a0a look at the sporting events that made such football luminaries and players as\u00a0Pel\u00e9,\u00a0Maradona,\u00a0Messi,\u00a0Ronaldo,\u00a0Zidane,\u00a0Villa, Rummenigge, Matth\u00e4us\u00a0and\u00a0M\u00fcller,\u00a0household names around the world.
