{"id":10229,"date":"2017-06-09T11:56:09","date_gmt":"2017-06-09T15:56:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvreal\/nat-geo-teams-with-nike-on-doc-special\/"},"modified":"2017-06-09T12:52:43","modified_gmt":"2017-06-09T16:52:43","slug":"nat-geo-nike-team-for-doc-on-distance-runners","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvreal\/nat-geo-nike-team-for-doc-on-distance-runners\/","title":{"rendered":"Nat Geo &#038; Nike Team for Doc on Distance Runners"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>National Geographic and Nike are collaborating on the global documentary <em>Breaking2<\/em> (working title), centered on the year-long journey of\u00a0elite distance runners who set out to break the two-hour marathon barrier.<\/p>\n<p>After 12 months of scientifically advanced training, a trio of runners circled the Monza circuit in Italy on May 6, when 32-year-old Kenyan Eliud Kipchoge came\u00a0within only 25 seconds of breaking the two-hour mark. National Geographic Studios, in association with Dirty Robber, will produce\u00a0<em>Breaking2<\/em>. The 60-minute\u00a0film is slated to make its\u00a0broadcast debut in September on National Geographic in the U.S. and Europe, and will also be made available on digital platforms around the globe.<\/p>\n<p>Brendan Ripp, the executive VP of sales and partnerships at National Geographic, commented: \u201cWith Nike as the perfect partner in telling this remarkable story, <em>Breaking2<\/em> is about pushing limits and going further. We hope that viewers will connect with the runners on a personal level.
