The BritBox SVOD service is to launch in South Africa in the second half of 2021.<\/p>\n
South Africa will mark the fifth territory for the platform, following successful launches in the U.S. and Canada, the U.K. and, most recently, Australia.<\/p>\n
Last year, BritBox announced a global rollout plan that would see the platform active in up to 25 new countries.<\/p>\n
Operating as a 50\/50 venture between BBC Studios and ITV, the South Africa service will utilize the teams and the technology behind the successful launches of BritBox in its existing territories.<\/p>\n
Martin Goswami, group strategic partnership and distribution director at ITV, said: \u201cThe launch of BritBox in South Africa is yet another step in the platform\u2019s trajectory towards international expansion.
