{"id":1978,"date":"2019-07-15T10:56:03","date_gmt":"2019-07-15T14:56:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev2.worldscreen.com\/tvmiddleeastafrica\/canal-buys-nigerias-rok\/"},"modified":"2019-07-15T12:55:35","modified_gmt":"2019-07-15T16:55:35","slug":"canal-buys-nigerias-rok","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvmiddleeastafrica\/canal-buys-nigerias-rok\/","title":{"rendered":"Canal+ Buys Nigeria&#8217;s ROK"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>France&#8217;s Canal+ has acquired the Nigerian film and television studio ROK, a leader in Nollywood content.<\/p>\n<p>Canal+ has acquired ROK\u2019s production, content distribution and publishing channels.\u00a0As part of the transaction, IROKO will also take full control of the JV IROKO+, the leading SVOD platform in French-speaking Africa.<\/p>\n<p>ROK Founder Mary Njoku\u00a0will continue in a leadership role as director-general of ROK Productions\u00a0and maintains a material shareholding in the company.<\/p>\n<p>ROK will produce thousands of more hours of Nollywood content to deliver movies and original TV series for Canal+ Group\u2019s audiences in French-speaking Africa.
