LONDON: A+E Networks has appointed Yusuf Nabee to the newly created role of general manager for Africa, effective June 1.<\/p>\n

In his new post, Nabee will be charged with building on A+E Networks\u2019s success across the African continent. He will be responsible for securing new distribution for the company\u2019s portfolio of channels and for driving commercial opportunities. Nabee will be in charge of the Johannesburg office, where he will build a full local team. A+E Networks\u2019s premium channel brands HISTORY, Crime + Investigation and Lifetime are available in Africa on the DStv platform. In addition, in the past two years\u00a0the\u00a0company has invested in two local commissions,\u00a0Pawn Stars South Africa<\/em> and Four Weddings South Africa<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Nabee will report to Nicolas Eglau, the chief operating officer at A+E Networks UK and general manager for Nordics, the Benelux and CEEMEA. Eglau commented: \u201cYusuf is a great addition to A+E Networks\u2019s senior team. We are confident that his proven track-record of launching new channels, commissioning content and increasing audience share in the competitive African TV landscape will enable A+E Networks to gain further scale in this exciting and important market.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI am very pleased to be joining the A+E Networks family,\u201d Nabee added. \u201cI am particularly excited at the opportunity to build on the base that A+E has already established in Africa, by expanding the company\u2019s presence across the continent and bringing more local flavor to its existing brands and content.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nabee currently serves as CEO of ReelAfrican, a content aggregator specializing in making African content available to audiences around the world.
