Univision Communications has unveiled plans to launch PrendeTV, a streaming service created exclusively for the U.S. Hispanic audience featuring free, premium Spanish-language programming.<\/p>\n

PrendeTV will feature a comprehensive offering of unlimited premium and exclusive content for U.S. Hispanic consumers, including a collection of high-quality, curated Spanish-language series, movies and more. The offering will span a broad range of genres, from Hollywood blockbusters and acclaimed global television series, novelas, comedies, classic sports, documentaries, lifestyle shows and children\u2019s programming, to Univision and Televisa’s exclusive libraries of beloved, fan-favorite programming not available on any other streaming platform.<\/p>\n

Taking its name from the Spanish-language word for \u201cswitch on\u201d or \u201cturn on,\u201d PrendeTV will allow viewers to watch content on any screen, anytime and anywhere. The service is slated to launch in the first quarter.<\/p>\n

\u201cPrendeTV is an important, early step in Univision\u2019s broader efforts to build the same leadership position we have in Spanish-language TV, in the emerging Spanish-language streaming space,\u201d said Univision CEO Wade Davis. \u201cThe announcement of PrendeTV within two weeks of closing our acquisition of Univision underscores our focus and commitment to rapidly driving the transformation and growth of the company. PrendeTV is unlike anything our audience has access to today and will completely change the landscape for video streaming in Spanish-language media in the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n
