{"id":3605,"date":"2018-05-04T09:20:03","date_gmt":"2018-05-04T13:20:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvlatina\/hemisphere-media-group-buys-majority-stake-snap-tv\/"},"modified":"2018-05-04T11:02:07","modified_gmt":"2018-05-04T15:02:07","slug":"hemisphere-media-group-buys-majority-stake-snap-tv","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvlatina\/hemisphere-media-group-buys-majority-stake-snap-tv\/","title":{"rendered":"Hemisphere Media Group Buys Majority Stake in Snap"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hemisphere Media Group has acquired a 75 percent stake in Ariel Tobi&#8217;s Snap Media and entered into a\u00a0<span class=\"s1\">co-production joint venture with MarVista Entertainment. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Snap was founded in 2009 in association with MarVista Entertainment as an independent production and distribution company.\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">Snap tripled MarVista\u2019s distribution business in Latin America and boosted its own distribution business by acquiring a catalog for the region.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">As part of the investment, Hemisphere and MarVista will be co-producing new original productions together.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Tobi will be joining the Hemisphere team as senior VP of distribution and programming.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re thrilled to be acquiring a majority interest in Snap Media,\u201d said Alan J. Sokol, President and CEO of Hemisphere. \u201cContent distribution is an important strategic asset, and we are confident that our resources and combined expertise will accelerate Snap\u2019s growth and position it as the leading independent distributor of Hispanic content.
