Grupo Televisa has launched Televisa Alternative Originals (TAO), a new premium content division that has signed its first distribution deal with Amazon Prime Video for a number of series.<\/p>\n
TAO looks to develop, produce and distribute premium content focusing on Latin American stories, characters and cultures. The new division, with a presence in Los Angeles and Mexico City, will have a team dedicated to high-quality content creation for SVOD and cable platforms worldwide.<\/p>\n
TAO has closed its first distribution deal with Amazon Prime Video for a range of series. Amazon Prime Video will handle global SVOD rights and will distribute these series to its clients in more than 200 territories. Televisa will handle the rights for its free-TV and pay-TV platforms in Mexico and Univision\u2019s platforms in the U.S.<\/p>\n
Televisa stated that this vision of creating premium series through TAO \u201cis a commitment to developing and producing original content, with a focus on taking fascinating and unique stories to worldwide audiences. The deal between TAO and Amazon positions the company as a key player in the region in this expanding segment in the industry, in collaboration with a platform that offers a wide reach for content.\u201d<\/p>\n
Amazon mentioned that the association with TAO \u201cis an important move for the distribution of high-quality Spanish-language content for Amazon Prime Video subscribers in Mexico, Latin America and the rest of the world, and is an important step in efforts to expand the offering of local original series on the platform.\u201d<\/p>\n
