MIAMI: NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises has appointed Monica Gil, a former Nielsen exec, as executive VP of corporate affairs, a newly created role.<\/p>\n

Gil will be responsible for corporate communications, government relations and community relations efforts. She will also oversee high-priority company-wide initiatives across all Telemundo Enterprises business units. She will work out of Miami under Cesar Conde, chairman of NBCUniversal International Group and NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises.<\/p>\n

Previously, Gil served as senior VP and general manager of multicultural growth and strategy at Nielsen, which she joined in 2005 as VP of communications. Before that, she was a senior member of Antonio Villaraigosa\u2019s political campaign team and press secretary for the speaker of California State Assembly. Earlier in her career, she was director of public affairs and community outreach for KVEA Telemundo 52 in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n
