\n\tElizabeth Bowen-Tombari is the editor of Spanish-language publications at World Screen.<\/em><\/p>\n

\n\tWhen I joined TV Latina<\/em> as an editor more than five years ago, I took over a magazine that at the time was already recognized internationally for its journalistic quality and was trusted by the top executives in the media industry.<\/p>\n

\n\tStill, as a challenge set for myself and the professional team that supports me, we decided to have our publication conquer new horizons and reaffirm what we have enshrined in each of our issues during the past 18 years: that TV<\/em> Latina<\/em> features the best editors, articles, interviews, design, printing and distribution in the industry. As proof of this, our team is led by Anna Carugati, the publishing group’s director and the recipient of an Emmy and a duPont-Columbia Award for her journalistic work. Our editorial team has also interviewed some of the most important executives from the world’s major media companies, without exception.<\/p>\n

\n\tAs part of a publishing group that puts out 13 magazines, five annual guides, three daily bulletins, nine weekly online newsletters, 14 electronic magazines, 14 websites, two video portals and two apps, we are constantly innovating.<\/p>\n

\n\tThis is the team that I joined. Last December, I marked 20 years since my early days as a television reporter, correspondent and producer, later becoming a newspaper editor and radio announcer before reaching my current position as editor of TV Latina<\/em>. A key part of our team is Jessica Rodríguez, the associate editor, who has been part of the TV Latina<\/em> family for two years, to which we recently added Joel Marino in the role of assistant editor.<\/p>\n

\n\tBut what makes me absolutely proud—and not just because this NATPE edition presents an elegantly redesigned cover—is that over the years, the quality of our interviews and the level of our interviewees keeps rising. This edition is a great example of our editorial ambition, providing abundant evidence of our position as the leading publishing group in the media industry. “Content is king,” and this edition is its very impressive kingdom!<\/p>\n

\n\tAs a sample of the wide variety of our content and its quality, we have this edition’s in-depth interview with Philippe Dauman, the president and CEO of Viacom, who talks about working with digital platforms and the continued value of compelling content.<\/p>\n

\n\tAnother highlighted interview is the one with Jeffrey Katzenberg, the director and CEO of DreamWorks Animation, who shares how digital media and technology are revolutionizing the business.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn terms of stars, we have interviews with Latinos like Sofía Vergara, star of Modern Family<\/em> and one of the executive producers of the recently released ABC series Killer Women<\/em>; the multitalented actor, writer, comedian and Mexican producer Eugenio Derbez, who obtained worldwide recognition for the film Instructions Not Included<\/em>; plus Telemundo actress Aracely Arámbula. They are joined by international celebrities Claire Danes, star of Homeland<\/em>; James Spader, of The Black List<\/em>; and actor Kevin Bacon, star of the series The Following<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\n\tOther outstanding interviews found in this edition are ones with Carlos Henrique Schroder, the CEO at Globo; Ted Sarandos, the chief content officer at Netflix; Hernán López, the president and CEO at FOX International Channels; Guillaume de Posch, one of the co-CEOs at RTL Group; Tim Davie, the CEO at BBC Worldwide; and Joe Uva, the president of Hispanic businesses and content at NBCUniversal.<\/p>\n

\n\tI also can’t fail to mention who occupies our cover: Enrique Martínez, the president and managing director at Discovery Networks Latin America\/U.S. Hispanic, who discusses his 20th anniversary at Discovery and 20 years of Discovery Channel in Latin America. Emilio Azcárraga, the president, CEO and chairman of the board of Grupo Televisa, is also celebrated in this edition. At NATPE, Azcárraga will receive the Brandon Tartikoff Legacy Award.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn TV Latina<\/em> you can also find a story by Elizabeth Guider titled El maratón, where broadcasters, producers and distributors talk about the phenomenon of binge viewing. Guider was the executive editor of Variety<\/em> for 18 years and later took over editorial responsibilities for The Hollywood Reporter<\/em> for nearly three years. The feature Sintonía abierta, which talks about the region’s major free-TV broadcasters, was written by contributing editor Rafael Blanco, who has been part of the TV Latina<\/em> team for the past five years.<\/p>\n

\n\tIt’s easy to be a publisher, but it’s hard to be a good publisher.
