NEW YORK: Affirming its dedication to the kids\u2019 programming sector, MIPTV organizer Reed MIDEM unveiled a\u00a0new Kids\u2019 Buyers Advisory Board<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0in Cannes.<\/p>\n

The board, comprised of nine executives from across the children\u2019s entertainment industry, will meet several times a year and offer guidance on strategy and content development for future kids\u2019 programming projects at events such as MIPTV and MIPCOM.<\/p>\n

Cannes also played\u00a0host to the International Emmy Kids Awards<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0this year for the first time ever, a highlight of the Kids@MIPTV program. Winners were named at a glammed-up gala at the Carlton, where awards were presented to Japan\u2019s\u00a0Ronja, The Robber\u2019s Daughter<\/em>, (animation), the U.K.\u2019s\u00a0My Life: I Am Leo<\/em>\u00a0(factual) and\u00a0Bing\u00a0<\/em>(preschool), Norway\u2019s\u00a0Best i Mest<\/em>\u00a0(non-scripted entertainment),\u00a0Nowhere Boys Series 2\u00a0<\/em>from Australia (series) and\u00a0Rabarber\u00a0<\/em>of the Netherlands (TV movie\/mini-series).<\/p>\n

Mattel received the MIPTV Brand of the Year Award in Cannes, accepted by the company\u2019s president and COO, Richard Dickson,\u00a0ahead of his keynote<\/a><\/strong>. Dickson was also joined on stage in the Grand Auditorium of the Palais by\u00a0World Screen<\/em>\u2019s Anna Carugati for a Q&A, during which they spoke about how Mattel is providing beloved brands and characters on digital platforms and mobile devices, among other topics.<\/p>\n

The content-creation arm of Mattel unveiled\u00a0various international broadcast deals<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0during MIPTV for the all-new\u00a0Bob the Builder<\/em>, plus a new hour-long\u00a0Fireman Sam<\/em>\u00a0special. Also announcing some deal news at the market were Rainbow, which will launch its hit property\u00a0Winx Club<\/em>\u00a0in India<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0later this year and deliver a number of\u00a0titles to Brazil\u2019s TV Cultura<\/a><\/strong>, and Studio 100 Media, which placed 100 half-hours of\u00a0programming in Lithuania<\/a><\/strong>, expanded its\u00a0relationship with Hungarian pubcaster MTVA<\/a><\/strong>, and signed a\u00a0VOD and home-video agreement<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0for the revived CGI series\u00a0Heidi<\/em>. CAKE clinched\u00a0a volume deal<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0with the LatAm SVOD service blim. INK Global was at MIPTV\u00a0launching a brand-new kids\u2019 show<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0with the South African producer Diprente, while ITV Studios and Pukeko Pictures announced a\u00a0third season for\u00a0Thunderbirds Are Go<\/em><\/a><\/strong>, which was the World Premiere Screening at MIPJunior just two years ago.<\/p>\n
