TORONTO: Family Channel in Canada is kicking off its March Break programming lineup early with the launch of the original figure skating feature film Ice Girls<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The movie, which will air on Friday, March 11, at 8 p.m., delves into the world of competitive figure skating. It follows 15-year-old Mattie Dane as she struggles to regain her confidence and determination after sustaining an injury during a major skating competition and subsequently moving to a new town when her family falls on hard times.<\/p>\n

Ice Girls<\/em> stars three-time World Champion and two-time Olympic silver medalist Elvis Stojko alongside Natasha Henstridge and Canadian figure skating champions Michaela Du Toit and Taylor Hunsley. Tessa Virtue, an Olympic ice-dancing champion, also makes a guest appearance.<\/p>\n

Family Channel\u2019s weeklong March Break programming lineup runs from March 14 through 18 and will feature morning and afternoon marathons of popular shows such as The Next Step<\/em>, Lost & Found Music Studios<\/em>, Gortimer Gibbon\u2019s Life on Normal Street<\/em>, Gaming Show (In My Parents\u2019 Garage)<\/em>, Nowhere Boys<\/em>, AwesomenessTV<\/em> and Cheerleaders<\/em>. Each day at 12 p.m., the channel will air classic and contemporary movies.<\/p>\n

In addition, the free preview in March will offer viewers across Canada access to Family Channel\u2019s programming for the entire month.<\/p>\n

Commissioned by DHX Television, Ice Girls<\/em> was created by Responsible Cinema Inc. (RCI) and produced in association with Tajj Media. William Steinkamp serves as executive producer alongside G. Scott Paterson, Lowell Conn, Warren Fergus, Anthony Cowley, Kelly Gilbert and Lara Daans, who also served as a writer.
