TV Kids\u00a0shines a spotlight on\u00a0<\/em>Furry Wheels, an upcoming animated series from Gaumont Television-Animation.<\/em><\/p>\n

A hyperactive young sloth and his pursuit to master the art of driving is the premise of\u00a0Furry Wheels<\/em>, a brand-new animated show that is currently in production at Gaumont Television-Animation. The character-driven comedy is created and directed by Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Martin, who has also worked with the company on such kids\u2019 series as\u00a0Dude, That\u2019s My Ghost!<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Mouss & Boubidi<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cFurry Wheels<\/em>\u00a0is a unique property because the main character, Andr\u00e9, is very much an extension of the show creator bringing forth a sincerity that makes characters unforgettable,\u201d says Pierre Bela\u00efsch, the president of animation at\u00a0\"Image\"Gaumont Television. \u201cFred has also tried to build a strong comic perspective into all of his characters.\u201d<\/p>\n

The show initially came about through an artist-in-residence program that Gaumont Television-Animation established with its development department, according to Bela\u00efsch. \u201cUnder the supervision of the director of development, Heath Kenny, we selected an experienced creative artist who we felt had the skill and voice to build a universe of their own if given the opportunity and time,\u201d he says. \u201cFred Martin is an exceptional talent [who] not only has considerable experience as a storyboard artist and director, but he has also been actively working as a writer in France for some years.\u201d<\/p>\n

Furry Wheels<\/em>\u00a0is expected to begin airing on France T\u00e9l\u00e9visions (FTV) and Disney XD EMEA at the end of next year or beginning of 2018. \u201cIt is tailored specially for FTV and Disney,\u201d says Bela\u00efsch. \u201cSuch demanding clients\u00a0\"Image\"constantly help you improve your skills, which brings the show to international quality standards [regarding] concept, script writing, design, etc.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition to the 52×11-minute\u00a0Furry Wheels\u00a0<\/em>series\u2014which will be available in both English and French\u2014Gaumont Television-Animation plans to develop one-minute shorts, according to Bela\u00efsch. \u201cThey\u2019ll be available for our broadcasters\/partners and future prebuyers,\u201d he says. \u201cThey will be original and not re-edition from the existing\u00a0Furry Wheels<\/em>\u00a0material.\u201d Bela\u00efsch notes that the company would also like to explore licensing opportunities for the property in the future.<\/p>\n

\u201cFurry Wheels\u00a0<\/em>is an exemplary series, firstly because of the ability of Gaumont Television-Animation to build a lineup where successfully adapted large properties (without question,\u00a0Noddy<\/em>\u00a0being the brightest star) live right alongside original creations thanks to an ambitious policy of R&D implemented a few years ago,\u201d says Pierre Siracusa, the director in charge of animation at France T\u00e9l\u00e9visions. \u201cSecondly, a strong policy of investment into lengthy internal developments, but also a policy of search and support of new artistic talents.\u201d<\/p>\n

Looking ahead, Gaumont Television-Animation\u2019s Bela\u00efsch is confident that\u00a0Furry Wheels<\/em>\u00a0will secure international sales in the coming months.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
