{"id":9378,"date":"2016-01-27T11:07:58","date_gmt":"2016-01-27T16:07:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvkids\/canadas-teletoon-is-on-board-for-squish\/"},"modified":"2016-01-27T14:05:36","modified_gmt":"2016-01-27T19:05:36","slug":"canadas-teletoon-is-on-board-squish","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvkids\/canadas-teletoon-is-on-board-squish\/","title":{"rendered":"Canada\u2019s TELETOON Is On Board Squish"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PARIS\/TORONTO: Cottonwood Media and its co-production partner Shaftesbury have entered into a development deal with Corus Entertainment\u2019s TELETOON in Canada for the animated comedy series <em>Squish<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, French children\u2019s network Gulli has ramped up its existing development deal for the series into a pre-buy of all digital and broadcast rights for France. Gulli and Cottonwood had entered into a development deal for the series in mid-2015. The 52&#215;11-minute series targets kids aged 6 to 11 and is based on the best-selling graphic novels by Jennifer Holm. It is set for delivery in 2017.<\/p>\n<p><em>Squish<\/em> tells of the secret life of amoebas trying to survive in the cutthroat world of single-celled organisms. The series is executive produced by Cottonwood Media\u2019s producer and founding partner David Michel (<em>Get Blake!<\/em>, <em>Redakai<\/em>). John Derevlany (<em>Johnny Test<\/em>, <em>Angry Beaver<\/em>) serves as showrunner.<\/p>\n<p>Michel commented: \u201cIt is very exciting that <em>Squish<\/em> is moving into the key Canadian market. Cottonwood\u2019s raison d\u2019\u00eatre is to produce premium content for global channels and having a top North American partner such as TELETOON reaffirms this goal.\u00a0We are confident that TELETOON will help the TV show attain the same massive success the books have had in both Canada and the U.S.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Squish<\/em> has already succeeded in entertaining kids in Canada through its graphic novels and we are thrilled to develop this concept for TELETOON,\u201d said Athena Georgaklis, the director of content at TELETOON. \u201cWe look forward to joining this list of talented writers and producers to bring these stories to life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Caroline Cochaux, the managing director for France and international at Lagard\u00e8re Active (Gulli), added: \u201cWe are still delighted to be a part of this new animation company\u2019s first production, we are proud to be partnering up with Cottonwood Media on this adventure.
