The first film, which made its premiere on Disney Channel in late July, delivered more than 12.2 million total viewers in the U.S. and broke viewing records on the WATCH Disney Channel app. The live-action movie has aired on Disney Channels around the globe.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tGary Marsh, the president and chief creative officer at Disney Channels Worldwide, said: &quot;By almost every measure&mdash;domestically and globally&mdash;<em>Descendants<\/em> has already become one of the biggest entertainment properties of the year, and we&#039;re eager to delve deeper into the unfolding mythology of Auradon and Isle of the Lost. This kind of compelling, innovative storytelling, alongside our animated <em>Descendants: Wicked World<\/em> shorts and unique transmedia campaign, continues to lay the groundwork for multiple franchise opportunities across virtually every line of business at The Walt Disney Company.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>\n\tIt has also been announced that Melissa de la Cruz will write a second novel as part of the ongoing <em>Descendants <\/em>publishing program. The book, titled <em>Return to the Isle of the Lost<\/em>, will be released in May 2016. A <em>Descendants<\/em> mobile game from Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media is launching next month.
