The series was born on YouTube before finding broadcast and streaming partners, including Disney+ in Europe, and garnering a robust licensing and merchandising program. Oli Bernard, COO and co-founder of Kedoo Entertainment, tells TV Kids how the company is planning to grow its digital-first and direct-to-consumer strategies this year.

TV KIDS: We all heard the slogan “survive till ’25” over and over again leading up to last year. Now, 2025 has come and gone, and the kids’ industry is still very much in a period of transition and trying to find its footing, from what I’ve heard. What significant development throughout 2025 impacted your business the most?
BERNARD: While the year was widely anticipated as a recovery point for the industry, in reality, the most significant developments throughout 2025 were the continued recalibration of the kids’ content marketplace and the transition toward new business models. Traditional broadcasters and streamers became increasingly selective, prioritizing proven content and commissioning based on performance, while studios adapted their approaches to distributing and monetizing content digitally first.

TV KIDS: How do you see those shifts affecting your kids’ distribution and production business in 2026?
BERNARD: For Kedoo, we are lucky enough to have our animation studio, 3D Sparrow Group, which developed Booba, a performance-proven IP, providing stability as we launch new properties and develop scalable productions, minimizing risks overall. We are also an experienced digital distributor, which means placing greater emphasis on alternative revenue streams, particularly in building new digital channels and expanding our FAST channel footprint beyond traditional content licensing.

TV KIDS: What growth opportunities are you pursuing this year?
BERNARD: We are not reinventing the wheel in 2026, but focusing on expanding digital-first and direct-to-consumer opportunities while continuing to strengthen global distribution. We believe it’s increasingly important to control more of the value chain from content ownership to audience engagement.

On the production side, we’re balancing flagship IP with agile experimentation, developing new seasons, live-action and spin-off series for Booba, while diversifying by launching new content and developing scalable productions.

On the distribution side, we’re accelerating the rollout of new channels across platforms and territories, while exploring new short-form, long-form and interactive formats to reach kids where they’re consuming media today.

TV KIDS: How are funding models changing amid the continued disruption in the marketplace (and the global economy)?
BERNARD: The market is still difficult as we see funding models shifting away from large upfront commissioning deals and traditional content licensing. Instead, the focus on monetization through owned digital channels is growing, allowing studios to build recurring revenue streams over time to fund future episodes or projects rather than depending solely on sales.

It doesn’t mean this transition is easy; YouTube and other digital platforms do not allow impactful revenues from the start.

TV KIDS: Kids today have so many options for entertainment beyond television. How are you addressing the challenge of discovery and making sure your IPs get in front of and capture the attention of children?
BERNARD: Children now engage with content across many platforms, from YouTube to Roblox. So, we’re actively exploring new short-form and interactive formats, ensuring our IPs meet young audiences where and how they consume media today. We make sure our content is optimized using real-time data analytics, allowing us to tailor production and distribution to audience behavior and preference. Agility is key, and this approach keeps our IPs discoverable, relevant and compelling in a competitive landscape.

TV KIDS: What other trends do you foresee shaping the kids’ sector this year?
BERNARD: Digital-first and direct-to-consumer strategies will remain central, both as alternative revenue streams and as a way to engage audiences directly while demonstrating content performance for commissioning and licensing opportunities. New formats with shorter and longer forms of animations might also move the market.

TV KIDS: There is a lot of negativity out there. So: What are you most looking forward to? What is keeping you excited about working in the kids’ industry?
BERNARD: Watching children giggle as they engage with our content is what keeps us moving forward in the kids’ industry. Being able to bring joy and learning to kids and families every day is what makes this industry so rewarding and keeps us inspired to keep creating.

TV KIDS: Are there any titles you would like to share in particular?
BERNARD: Booba, now in its sixth season, is our cornerstone. We’ve developed a live-action series last year and are excited to share that we’re in preparation for more spin-offs, for which we can share more details when they are ready.

In terms of new projects, we’re experimenting with a few titles. They’re either in early development or pilot episodes right now. If any of them are greenlit with real long-term potential, after we gather and analyze their performances, we’ll be happy to share them publicly.

Oli Bernard, COO and co-founder of Kedoo Entertainment, on how the company is planning to grow its digital-first and direct-to-consumer strategies this year.

[15,21
8514,10455
post-31440","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","","category-interviews","category-top-stories","tag-kedoo-entertainment","tag-olivier-bernard","pmpro-has-access

Kedoo Entertainment’s Oli Bernard on Digital-First Opportunities - TVKIDS

{"@context":"https://schema.org","@graph":[{"@type":"WebPage","@id":"https://worldscreen.com/tvkids/kedoo-entertainments-oli-bernard-on-digital-first-opportunities/","url":"https://worldscreen.com/tvkids/kedoo-entertainments-oli-bernard-on-digital-first-opportunities/","name":"Kedoo Entertainment’s Oli Bernard on Digital-First Opportunities - TVKIDS","isPartOf":{"@id":"https://worldscreen.com/tvkids/#website"},"datePublished":"2026-02-27T16:11:21+00:00","dateModified":"2026-03-02T15:30:10+00:00","author":{"@id":"https://worldscreen.com/tvkids/#/schema/person/0da12602224807cc7b179b8405018deb"},"breadcrumb":{"@id":"https://worldscreen.com/tvkids/kedoo-entertainments-oli-bernard-on-digital-first-opportunities/#breadcrumb"},"inLanguage":"en-US","potentialAction":[{"@type":"ReadAction","target":["https://worldscreen.com/tvkids/kedoo-entertainments-oli-bernard-on-digital-first-opportunities/"]}]},{"@type":"BreadcrumbList","@id":"https://worldscreen.com/tvkids/kedoo-entertainments-oli-bernard-on-digital-first-opportunities/#breadcrumb","itemListElement":[{"@type":"ListItem","position":1,"name":"Home","item":"https://worldscreen.com/tvkids/"},{"@type":"ListItem","position":2,"name":"Kedoo Entertainment’s Oli Bernard on Digital-First Opportunities"}]},{"@type":"WebSite","@id":"https://worldscreen.com/tvkids/#website","url":"https://worldscreen.com/tvkids/","name":"TVKIDS","description":"","potentialAction":[{"@type":"SearchAction","target":{"@type":"EntryPoint","urlTemplate":"https://worldscreen.com/tvkids/?s={search_term_string}"},"query-input":"required name=search_term_string"}],"inLanguage":"en-US"},{"@type":"Person","@id":"https://worldscreen.com/tvkids/#/schema/person/0da12602224807cc7b179b8405018deb","name":"Jamie Stalcup","description":"Jamie Stalcup is the executive editor of World Screen.
