Mattel has announced a publishing program for Masters of the Universe<\/em>, with Mattel Press to release a film-adjacent novel, original middle-grade stories, comics, a graphic novel and an art book.<\/p>\n

\u201cMasters of the Universe<\/em> has always been more than a single format\u2014it\u2019s a mythology that evolves across generations and mediums,\u201d said Ryan Ferguson, global head of publishing at Mattel. \u201cWith this publishing initiative, we aren\u2019t just retelling the film\u2019s story; we\u2019re expanding the world of Eternia in ways that invite fans to go deeper and discover new facets of the universe. Through Mattel Press, we\u2019re partnering with New York Times<\/em>-best-selling authors and top creative talent to move quickly into diverse formats and reach a broader range of readers while still delivering rich, meaningful storytelling for longtime fans.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued, \u201cFrom character-driven young adult novels to manga-inspired narratives and fan-centric celebrations of the lore, this slate reflects our ambition to build Masters of the Universe<\/em> into a fully realized, multi-platform franchise that resonates with fans old and new.\u201d<\/p>\n

Masters of the Universe: The Junior Novel<\/em>, a junior novel retelling the story of the new live-action Masters of the Universe<\/em> film made with Amazon MGM Studios; the storybook Masters of the Universe: The Power Within<\/em>; and the early reader Masters of the Universe: I Am He-Man!<\/em> are set to release on May 5.<\/p>\n

The original young adult novel Teela: Daughter of Eternos<\/em>, set in the film universe, will publish on June 2.<\/p>\n

With Dark Horse Comics and Tokyopop, the range of comics and graphic novels includes Masters of the Universe: The Wings of Fate<\/em>, which will begin to publish on June 10, and Masters of the Universe: Legends of Eternia<\/em>, a manga-style graphic novel set to come on November 1.<\/p>\n

The program also extends beyond the new film. The adult coloring book Retro Power! Coloring Book<\/em>, releasing May 5, will feature original 1980s coloring book art for He-Man and She-Ra. There will also be the picture book Skeletor Has No Friends<\/em> and Skeleter Ate My Homework (The Adventures of He-Man and Porter #1)<\/em>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
