Mattel\u2019s net sales rose 7 percent to $1.8 billion in the fourth quarter, while full-year net sales were down 1 percent to $5.3 billion.<\/p>\n
The increase in fourth quarter net sales was driven by a 5 percent rise in North America and a growth of 11 percent in international. Mattel had a Q4 net income of $106 million, a decrease of $35 million. Operating income was $141 million, a $17 million drop.<\/p>\n
Worldwide gross billings for the dolls; vehicles; and action figures, building sets, games and other categories rose in the fourth quarter. Dolls were up 2 percent to $750 million; vehicles grew 20 percent to $652 million; and action figures, building sets, games and others increased 16 percent to $381 million.<\/p>\n
For the full year, net sales in North America dipped 5 percent, which was partially offset by a 6 percent rise in international sales. Operating income across 2025 was $546 million, a decrease of $148 million. Net income, meanwhile, was $398 million, a drop of $144 million.<\/p>\n
Worldwide gross billings for the dolls and infant, toddler and preschool categories dipped across the full year. The dolls segment garnered $2.1 billion, down 7 percent from the prior year, while the infant, toddler and preschool category drew in $786 million, down 17 percent. Vehicles were up 11 percent to $2 billion, and action figures, building sets, games and other came in at $1.2 billion, up 14 percent.<\/p>\n

He continued, \u201c2026 will be an important year for Mattel as we implement our new brand-centric strategy to grow our IP-driven play and family entertainment business. We expect growth to be led by innovation in toys, major partnerships with leading IP owners and an inflection in entertainment, with two movie releases and an expansion of digital games, amplified by the full acquisition of the Mattel163 mobile games studio. We are making strategic investments that will impact the bottom line this year but are intended to accelerate growth in top and bottom lines in 2027 and beyond.\u201d<\/p>\n
Paul Ruh, CFO of Mattel, added, \u201cWe are tracking ahead of our three-year $200 million savings target and are now projecting approximately $50 million of savings in 2026, bringing the total program target to $225 million. In the fourth quarter, we refinanced $600 million of debt and maintained our investment-grade rating. Our balance sheet is strong, and we ended the year with over $1.2 billion of cash, after repurchasing $600 million of shares. We have acquired more than $1.2 billion of shares in the last 3 years, representing approximately 18 percent of shares outstanding and just announced a new program to acquire another $1.5 billion of shares, which we expect to complete by the end of 2028.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
