WildBrain has sold its 41 percent stake in Peanuts Holdings to Sony Music Entertainment (Japan) and Sony Pictures Entertainment for C$630 million cash.<\/p>\n
Under the agreement, WildBrain will remain a multiyear partner to Peanuts, continuing as the exclusive production studio for new Peanuts content through its partnership with Apple TV and as distributor of that content. WildBrain CPLG will remain the exclusive licensing agent for consumer products in all current territories across Europe, the Middle East and the Asia Pacific, excluding Japan and ANZ.<\/p>\n
The net proceeds of the transaction fully repay WildBrain\u2019s Senior Secured Credit Facility, leaving over $40 million cash surplus. WildBrain plans to use these funds to fuel growth in wholly owned franchises, expanding its premium digital content network and ad footprint and investing across emerging technologies.<\/p>\n
