{"id":30309,"date":"2025-08-21T09:00:58","date_gmt":"2025-08-21T13:00:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvkids\/worldscreen.com\/"},"modified":"2025-08-21T10:26:10","modified_gmt":"2025-08-21T14:26:10","slug":"bbc-childrens-greenlights-dexter-procter-adaptation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvkids\/bbc-childrens-greenlights-dexter-procter-adaptation\/","title":{"rendered":"BBC Children\u2019s Greenlights Dexter Procter Adaptation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BBC Children\u2019s and Education has commissioned an adaptation of the children\u2019s novel <em>Dexter Procter: the 10-Year-Old Doctor<\/em> for CBBC, BBC One and BBC iPlayer.<\/p>\n<p>Created and written by Adam Kay (<em>This is Going to Hurt<\/em>), the adaptation will star Cian Eagle-Service in the lead role, alongside Peter Serafinowicz (<em>How To Train Your Dragon<\/em>), Jameela Jamil (<em>The Good Place<\/em>), Mike Wozniak (<em>Taskmaster<\/em>), Konnie Huq (<em>Blue Peter<\/em>) and more.<\/p>\n<p>The cast also features Harry Enfield (<em>Harry Enfield &amp; Chums<\/em>), Sue Johnston (<em>The Royle Family<\/em>), Aroop Shergill, Hugo McGinn, Max Lester, Gemma Whelan, Michelle Gomez, Kieran Hodgson, Ashley McGuire, Pippa Haywood, Jake Canuso and Michelle Greenidge.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Dexter Procter<\/em> program will feature two 50-minute stand-alone special episodes. It will be executive produced by Adam Kay and James Kay for Terrible Productions; Phil Clarke and Roberto Troni for Various Artists Ltd.; and Amy Buscombe for the BBC. Matt Lipsey (<em>Ted Lasso<\/em>) is directing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cParents and kids can put down their separate screens to come together to watch Dexter as he navigates the challenges of being a 10-year-old doctor,\u201d said Sarah Muller, senior head of commissioning for 7-plus at BBC Children\u2019s and Education. \u201cThere are plenty of famous faces who will bring laugh-out-loud moments that can be enjoyed across the generations as we bring this drama for the whole family to BBC One later this year.\u201c<\/p>\n<p>Adam Kay commented, \u201cI\u2019m so excited to film this semi-autobiographical story about the world\u2019s cleverest child who became a doctor.
