The official selection of the 2025 Annecy International Animation Film Festival has been unveiled, with 21 feature films selected from 130 submissions, and the full Mifa program has been revealed.<\/p>\n
\u201cAfter a historic 2024 edition, with a record attendance of 17,400 badge-holders, and all this despite a difficult context for the industry, we have worked with renewed determination to make the 2025 edition stronger, open and ambitious to assist the revival,\u201d said Micka\u00ebl Marin, CEO of CITIA, organizer of the festival and Mifa market.<\/p>\n
The selections in the official competition are Allah is Not Obliged<\/em> by Zaven Najjar (Belgium, Canada, France, Luxembourg); Arco<\/em> by Ugo Bienvenu (France); ChaO<\/em> by Yasuhiro Aoki (Japan); Dandelion\u2019s Odyssey<\/em> by Momoko Seto and GEBEKA Films (Belgium, France); Death Does Not Exist<\/em> by F\u00e9lix Dufour-Laperri\u00e8re (Canada, France); Into the Mortal World<\/em> by Zhong Ding (China); Little Am\u00e9lie or the Character of Rain<\/em> by Ma\u00eflys Vallade and Liane-Cho Han (France); Olivia and the Invisible Earthquake<\/em> by Irina Iborra (Belgium, Chile, Spain, France); and The Last Blossom<\/em> by Baku Kinoshita (Japan).<\/p>\n In the Contrechamp competition, the selected projects are Balentes<\/em> by Giovanni Columbu (Italy); Endless Cookie<\/em> by Seth Scriver and Pete Scriver (Canada); Jinsei<\/em> by Ryuya Suzuki (Japan); Lesbian Space Princess<\/em> by Emma Hough Hobbs and Leela Varghese (Australia); Memory Hotel<\/em> by Heinrich Sabl (Germany, France); Nimuendaj\u00fa<\/em> by Tania Anaya (Brazil, Peru); Olivia & the Clouds<\/em> by Tom\u00e1s Pichardo Espaillat (Dominican Republic); Space Cadet<\/em> by Eric San, aka Kid Koala (Canada); Tales from the Magic Garden<\/em> by David Sukup, Patrik Pa\u0161\u0161, Leon Vidmar, Jean-Claude Rozec and GEBEKA Films (Czech Republic, France, Slovakia, Slovenia); The Great History of Western Philosophy<\/em> by Aria Covamonas (Mexico); and The Square<\/em> by Bo-Sol Kim (South Korea).<\/p>\n The festival will feature a variety of screening events, including for Animal Farm<\/em> by Andy Serkis; Maya, Give Me Another Title<\/em> by Michael Gondry; Falcon Express<\/em> by Jean-Christian Tassy and Beno\u00eet Daffis; The Songbird\u2019s Secret<\/em> by Antoine Lanciaux; and Fixed<\/em> by Genndy Tartakovsky.<\/p>\n Netflix, Sony Pictures Animation, DreamWorks Animation, Warner Bros. Animation and The Walt Disney Company will all host exclusive first-looks at upcoming projects.<\/p>\n The non-competitive category Annecy Presents will again take place, with previews of 13 international films, including titles from Norway, Finland, France, Malaysia, Poland, China, Belgium, Mexico, Switzerland, Ireland and many more.<\/p>\n Mifa, the market running parallel to the festival, will be celebrating its 40th anniversary with 200 programmed events, 200 stands in a larger exhibition area, an XR&Games area and a restyled Le Campus Mifa.<\/p>\n The program includes 32 pitch sessions\u2014seven Mifa pitch sessions and 25 partner pitch sessions. For the Mifa pitches, 48 projects were shortlisted in the categories of short films, feature films, series and TV specials, immersive experiences and documentaries.
