{"id":27042,"date":"2024-03-12T08:42:40","date_gmt":"2024-03-12T12:42:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvkids\/scholastic-to-invest-in-9-story-media-group\/"},"modified":"2024-03-12T10:18:21","modified_gmt":"2024-03-12T14:18:21","slug":"scholastic-to-invest-in-9-story-media-group","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvkids\/scholastic-to-invest-in-9-story-media-group\/","title":{"rendered":"Scholastic to Invest in 9 Story Media Group"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Scholastic is making an investment in 9 Story Media Group that will see it acquire 100 percent of the economic interest in the company and a minority of voting rights.<\/p>\n<p>The $186 million deal, subject to customary closing adjustments, solidifies a longtime collaboration between Scholastic Entertainment and 9 Story, which includes the animated series reboot of <em>Clifford the Big Red Dog<\/em> on PBS KIDS and Prime Video and the production of <em>Eva the Owlet<\/em> for Apple TV+.<\/p>\n<p>9 Story\u2019s business divisions include the animation studio Brown Bag Films, which has won 21 Emmy Awards and two Oscar nominations; 9 Story Distribution International, the global distribution division representing more than 5,000 half-hour episodes of 2D and 3D animated and live-action programming for kids; and 9 Story Brands, the consumer products division.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis highly strategic combination, adding 9 Story\u2019s industry-leading capabilities with Scholastic\u2019s trusted brand and proven ability to create iconic children\u2019s series and franchises, has tremendous potential to build deeper connections with young people through our stories, as the pages of our books come to life on screens and through merchandising,\u201d said Peter Warwick, Scholastic&#8217;s president and CEO. \u201cAt its core, Scholastic\u2019s 360-degree content creation strategy is about engaging children with reading, and we have introduced our stories to generations of kids by reaching them where they are.
