{"id":25968,"date":"2023-10-04T09:43:16","date_gmt":"2023-10-04T13:43:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev2.worldscreen.com\/tvkids\/sinking-ship-bbc-studios-team-odd-squad-uk\/"},"modified":"2023-10-04T12:05:45","modified_gmt":"2023-10-04T16:05:45","slug":"sinking-ship-bbc-studios-team-for-odd-squad-uk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvkids\/sinking-ship-bbc-studios-team-for-odd-squad-uk\/","title":{"rendered":"Sinking Ship &amp; BBC Studios Team for Odd Squad UK"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sinking Ship Entertainment and BBC Studios Kids &amp; Family Productions have partnered for <em>Odd Squad\u00a0UK<\/em>, a new format of the original math comedy series.<\/p>\n<p>In association with CBBC, PBS KIDS, TVOkids and Radio-Canada, the new series features a predominantly British cast and is being filmed exclusively in the U.K. Twelve half-hour episodes are currently in production and set for release in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Fred Rogers Productions will distribute the series in the U.S., while Sinking Ship will handle worldwide rights.<\/p>\n<p>The original<em> Odd Squad<\/em> was created by Tim McKeon (<em>Helpsters<\/em>, <em>Adventure Time<\/em>, <em>Gravity Falls<\/em>) and Adam Peltzman (<em>Wonder Pets!<\/em>, <em>Peter Rabbit<\/em>, <em>Wallykazam!<\/em>). It has received 17 Daytime Emmy Awards, including a 2019 win for outstanding children\u2019s\/family viewing program.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s been a pleasure co-producing this series of\u00a0<em>Odd Squad\u00a0UK<\/em>\u00a0with Sinking Ship Entertainment,\u201d said Cecilia Persson, managing director of BBC Studios Kids &amp; Family. \u201cIt\u2019s already a winning format, and this U.K. version has brought another sense of quirkiness and fun that has filtered through from script to set to screen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are thrilled to bring new agents and more oddness to our global fanbase,\u201d said Blair Powers, co-founder and partner at Sinking Ship Entertainment. \u201cThe format takes what we love from the original series and finds its own voice thanks to the fantastic cast and capable hands of our co-production partners at BBC Studios Kids &amp; Family.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ellen Doherty, chief creative officer for Fred Rogers Productions, added, \u201cWe are excited to see how this new format of <em>Odd Squad<\/em>, the series that so many kids and families have loved since it first premiered nearly ten years ago, takes shape with Sinking Ship Entertainment and BBC Studios Kids &amp;
