Disney+ has released the premiere date for the brand-new original series\u00a0Percy Jackson and the Olympians<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Based on Disney-Hyperion\u2019s book series by author Rick Riordan, the series is set to debut with a two-episode premiere on December 20 on Disney+. New episodes are to follow weekly.<\/p>\n

Percy Jackson and the Olympians<\/em> tells the story of a 12-year-old modern demigod, Percy Jackson, who has just come to terms with his newfound divine powers when the sky god, Zeus, accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt. With help from friends Grover and Annabeth, Percy sets out to find the bolt and restore order to Olympus.<\/p>\n

The series stars Walker Scobell as Percy Jackson, Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth Chase and Aryan Simhadri as Grover Underwood. Guest stars include Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hermes), Megan Mullally (Alecto), Toby Stephens (Poseidon), Virginia Kull (Sally Jackson), Jason Mantzoukas (Dionysus), Jay Duplass (Hades), Glynn Turman (Chiron), the late Lance Reddick (Zeus), Adam Copeland (Ares), Charlie Bushnell (Luke Castellan), Dior Goodjohn (Clarisse La Rue), Jessica Parker Kennedy (Medusa), Olivea Morton (Nancy Bobofit), Suzanne Cryer (Echidna), Timm Sharp (Gabe Ugliano) and Timothy Omundson (Hephaestus).<\/p>\n

Jon Steinberg and Dan Shotz serve as showrunners for the new series. Steinberg and Shotz also serve as executive producers alongside Rick Riordan, Rebecca Riordan and others. The first two episodes are written by Riordan and Steinberg and directed by James Bobin.<\/p>\n

Percy Jackson and the Olympians<\/em> series brand extensions include a product line of apparel, accessories, stationery and tie-in books to be available this fall at select retailers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
